Critics! yeah... C.R.I.T.I.C.S

by definition a critic is a person who offers reasoned judgment or analysis, value judgment, interpretation, or observation. This insight was formulated early by Lessing as "not every critic is a genius, but every genius is born a critic...genius has the proof of all rules within itself."

This post comes straight from the heart. I was surfing channels on tv when i came across a movie review about the latest movie to hit indian cinema theatres, KITES (patang...or shall i say..KATI PATANG). Before you draw a conclusion on where this post is heading to, let me inform you, this isn't necessarily a post on MOVIE critics, rather on the entire gamut of self proclaimed geniuses who think they are god. Rather the movie review acted as a catalyst for this upcoming rant by this self proclaimed god of gods on the lesser gods who have no business being gods!!

The basic definition of a critic is a person who gives reasonable analysis and interpretation of his observation on a subject of WHICH we BELIEVE ( or rather HOPE) he is a MASTER. But is this the case always?? Can we or rather should we criticise some body's work if we are not well versed on the subject?? Who gives us the right to criticise anything and everything we come across as unpleasant to our tastes?

Lets take a broader view of things. Criticism is necessary.Yes, it is criticism of one's work that strengthens ones resolve to do better in his/her art/craft/subject. Criticism is valid provided it has come from a person who has toiled hard in that particular craft,someone who is a MASTER.
Also criticism is valid (even if coming from novices) when something is ABSURD/OFFENSIVE or in BAD TASTE which offends a person or community.

coming to the movie review that i came across on tv, the critique in question was lambasting this movie for being crap and praying that if this movie manages to run for 3 days then it will be a big feat!! hmmm... ok guys... i am NOT a HRITIK roshan fan.. i am NOT a RAKESH ROSHAN fan.. NEITHER anurag basu's NOR Barbara mori's (though she is hot *smirk**wink*). I dont give a rat's ass as to what the movie is about or how much money it makes.But one thing i would like to tell that critic is "Suck My BALLS...SANDY BALLS". Movie critic my ass! this guy hasn't worked on a movie ever! and he stands there on the TV screen giving his personal opinion to an indian population of approximately 10 million people (atleast) who watch tv in india and maybe that god forsaken show!

How can you bad mouth some body's work, no matter how classy or shoddy, without actually knowing the sweat and grit involved in it? Is it a piece of cake? Is making a movie as simple as sitting in an AC room in front of a camera passing judgement about something you hardly have knowledge of?And worse still...GETTING PAID FOR DOING SO!!

Fuck you man!! Critics like you have gone on to make movies which have failed miserably and have shown us what piece of crap you guys are made up of! No talent, no brains, no caliber! Up yours!

If you cannot respect some body's work, dont pull him down. move away, leave him alone, he will get what he deserves. Mr. Critic, your reviews haven't had any impact on me, rather i pity those fickle minded people who blindly follow your "WISDOM" and decide whether to watch a movie or not. You alone must have caused a loss of a few crores to the movie. That must have given you a good night's sleep eh? 1.2 billion people. Can one person's taste reflect the mood and opinion of a nation? Does that person even have the qualification to pass judgements? When will people stop sensationalising things and thrive on negative opinion and things that shock! The problem lies in the so called INDIAN MENTALITY!! If things are goody goody then its a bore... add a lil bit of negativity , sensationalise things a lil bit and everyone will be glued to the TV sets.

My rant wont stop but this post must.. so i take your leave. But all those who read this post, think about it! Please don' JUDGE a movie by its negative review or the stars that it gets. Please don't dismiss some body's work without giving a thought about the efforts which have gone behind it. Please don't criticise some body's performance if you don't practice the craft! Use your brains..spread LOVE not AIDS...

Whoa!!!!

finally my first blog in like an eternity!! man i've been thinking about this post for ages but being the silly lazy ass that i am...it takes a lot and i mean a fcukin lot to sit in front of the PC and write!! duhh!!!

M so bored! so so so bored!! swinging on the edges of neuroticism i guess i will go mad in a few days!!

Being at home all alone for most of the day is like in itself an adventure. After working continuously for more than 2 years a months break at home is like...STRANGE!! no friends, no one to talk to... scared to death about my future... it sure will one day lead to psychosis.

ok enough of me... lets see...whats new...hmmm... go check out Ray William Johnson on Youtube. He reviews viral videos twice every week and i must say...its naaice!!
